Bowen Technique

Bowen Technique also known as Bowen Therapy is a non-invasive, complementary therapy, which can often be carried out over light clothing. It targets certain points on the body with gentle rolling movements to help it balance, repair and reset itself.

Developed in the 1950s in Australia by an osteopath called Tom Bowen, this therapy is reported to help with a number of conditions. It is important to note that Bowen therapy focuses on the whole person, not just the condition that has been presented.

Bowen is a series of gentle moves that work directly with the body’s fascia. (Fascia is the soft tissue component of the connective tissue system that covers the whole body) It works to readdress misalignment of the structures in the body that can cause musculoskeletal breakdown, pain and injury. The moves on the soft tissue send signals via your fascia to change the tensions in the body restoring balance and resulting in a more relaxed state.

Bowen’s gentle moves make it a suitable treatment for people of all ages, from babies to the very elderly. Bowen can be an effective treatment for a wide range of conditions.
